Katie Kelly

In February 2015, Katie gained selection on Triathlon Australia’s elite Paratriathlon program after she was diagnosed as Legally Blind due to a deaf/blind condition known as Usher Syndrome. After winning the Paratriathlon PT5 (Vision Impaired) World Championships in September 2015 with Sydney Olympic Silver Medallist Michellie Jones as her Guide, Katie and Michellie then went on to win Australia’s first Paratriathlon medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, where they won the Gold medal. Katie is now training for the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam. Katie also founded Sport Access Foundation which provides grants for children with a disability to play sport and she was awarded an OAM on Australia Day 2017.
